Forest Fun

forest fun by stansted airport

If you go down to the woods today you can be sure of a big surprise, at Hatfield Forest. Autumn or harvest time is a fantastic time of year to be heading to the forest to see all the magnificent colours this season has on offer.

Hatfield Forest is a vast ancient forest not far from Stansted and is a wonderful place to wander, to let the children run around, to go for a run,or to get back in touch with nature.

Hatfield Forest lies immediately south of Stansted Airport, it has trees that are over 1200 years old, along with a lake for fishing, boats to row around on the lake in summer along with bikes to hire.

If you have children they often have activities for them to do otherwise they can make their own fun by building dens or climbing the many fantastic trees.

Bird life is various at the forest too, you can find anything between waterfowl on the lake to birds of prey flying over the tree tops.

The forest is a wondrous place with 1049 acres of land to explore and discover. You can spend all day wandering or relaxing with no pressure to go anywhere or do anything.

Hatfield Forest has a lot of history as it is the only remaining intact Royal Hunting Forest and dates back to the time of the Norman kings of the late eleventh century. You never know what you could discover in a place with so much history.

If you are looking for a place to stay near Stansted and the forest, DeSalis Hotel is a perfect place to stay.
